There have been contractors in the area all spring and summer running cables and putting up new poles but since we haven't been inundated with sales people yet I assume we are not much closer to such a service. 
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

Don’t hold your breath. We have had the fibre cable on the pole outside since June, but no sign of getting a connection.

If anyone does call, including your present provider, my advice is to agree nothing and go to the shop to arrange things. My experience, which I have already posted, was even from our providers that we were happy to stay with, the door knockers lied and made false promises and were economical with the truth.
The installation was another story.
