EU faces awful winters

#11 Post by DominicBest »

When my house was a holiday home we used oil filled electric radiators to warm it up on winter visits. They were the most uneconomical form of heating I’ve ever used. My main source of heating is still a Jøtul logburner.

It's interesting that when Russia, via the incumbent Polish Communist government clamped down on the Solidarity movement there was a demand by the US to stop the European governments from supplying the Russians with critical instruments for their new gas pipelines but pressure from the Europeans, particularly the UK and Germany dissuaded them. The UK had Engineering contracts and Germany wanted the gas supply. Some members of Congress warned that it was dangerous to be too dependant on Russia for gas. Wise words that went unheeded.

Manonthemoon2 said (I use the wood pellets as cat litter, which is normally cheaper than cat litter. Maybe I should source a cheaper litter. The last 15kg bag cost €7,80, an increase from €5,50 a couple of months before)

Do you re-use them in the boiler?

Now, that would be savvy! Two uses for the price of one - they dry manure in other countries to use for burning, so why not!
