Pensions are already taxed - CSG, CRDS etc., except the tiniest pensions. But the inequalities are still there as those with the loudest voices have got concessions.

A 50ish chap I know was banging on about the proposed pension reform & telling me how he supported the actions against reform.
He got a bit miffy when I explained that it was the current workers who paid for current pensions &, as far as I was aware,as he'd never paid a centime of tax in his entire 'black' existance I couldn't see why he should be moaning.
He's constantly complaining about the price of things & how him & his working girlfriend are struggling financially & got even miffier when I suggested their, at least, 10 packets of fags a week habit probably wasn't helping.

Way back in time when first here I had a neighbour who worked for sncf, then he was only working on the trip from Paris to Toulouse, the return was as a passenger.
Putting my aged oar into the conflict as far as the pension reform is concerned I consider that they don't know they are alive these days.
I started work at 15, my pension didn't kick in till I was 21.Since my retirement at 65 I worked till 70.
Our joint uk pension is now equal to the french smic and we live very well here on it.

Yes - of course it was a sarcastic comment - as you say, since when did anyone have to do it, but they still get the retirement benefits as if they did.

You reminded me of my first job. Started work at 18, compulsory company pension contributions from the age of 21. However when I reached that age I was told that women had to wait until they were 25 as "you are more likely to run off and have kids". Left after ten years employment with only 2 1/2 years worth of contributions which were deemed to small to freeze and were returned to me ( less tax ). Still, it paid the deposit on a new car I suppose.
