Bet they were beautifully thin, thoughBlaze wrote: ↑Thu Oct 05, 2023 11:39 am I was in Rennes on Tuesday and I walked into a shop with two young women smoking on either side of the door. No "Bonjour madame", and when I asked about something, one of them was so unhelpful I waved a hand and walked out. I won't be going back there - the same shop in Saint Malo is much nicer !! The 2 puffing harpies at the door were probably to scare off potential customers !!

I agree I don't think there will be many who hasn't felt let down by so called customer service, I know I have.Hotrodder wrote: ↑Thu Oct 05, 2023 6:13 pm They don't seem to understand that if people don't get reasonable customer service they will eventually turn to the internet. It is getting so bad that it is worth posting a thread when you discover somewhere that actually treats the customer well. I recently discovered a garage that is a family business and is always busy but every person there has no problem being helpful with a genuine smile. As far as I can see, they don't charge over the odds either. The last time I ventured into a main dealership to attempt to buy spares nobody even looked up. I stood there like a lemon for ten minutes or so and ended up walking out without being asked what I wanted. Dog knows what they would have charged for the parts.

Do you mean dead as in needing a charge, or dead as in not accepting a charge?
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

Dead dead. That's the trouble buying online - to sort it out I would have to post the dud one back and still might not get an answer. Bought in a shop take it back for a swap.

How does using Amazon stop me getting a duff battery, have to send it back and wait for another? Incidentally I did look on Amazon and there were similar looking batteries but none specifically were for my phone

Clever stuff.
Unless you use Amazon and pay a nominal amount for "Prime"How does using Amazon stop me getting a duff battery, have to send it back and wait for another? Incidentally I did look on Amazon and there were similar looking batteries but none specifically were for my phone

Back on topic.
I do applaud the idea* but have a few questions about how it will work?
(*as an ex-smoker - since end 1999 - and married to a committed smoker).
Given that the purveyors of smoking materials already have issues identifying the age of teen who might be 14 but could be 20, how will this work when the permitted age is say 22.
Do people have to have a document that shows they are older than 22. It would need to identify them. A Name and photo would be useful. It should of course have their date of birth. In case of loss or theft, there should be a registration number so that the old one could be cancelled and a new one issued. To issue a new one would require an address.
So what we have is:
Name and address
DoB
Registration number
A photo
We could of course call this an National identity card - but we won't.
