Transporters ??

Hmmmm
 It's a 7 hr drive there and back so that's 14 hrs all together, it means going a long way up in elevation (mini mountains) and with the weather I don't fancy getting stuck in snow. I don't like the idea of my better half driving all that way on his own.

We have ten steres of wood to collect and cut and stack tout de suite and I can't do that on my own. I suppose basically we're being lazy and it'll be cheaper to get a transporter to collect it for us. They're geared up for this sort of thing and have hubs they can deliver to all over the country.

I won't be driving back to the UK to deliver presents and cards either, I shall post them and buy pressies from UK companies who will deliver the pressies for me. :P

Thanks everyone - we'll contact Bernis and the like for a quote - not GPS though, they'll probably end up in Timbuktu.

And there may also be another factor. A transporter may well insist the engine is secured to a pallet. If the seller can't or won't do this its "game over". A motivated biker could probably just pick it up and chuck it into the boot.
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

You could try Fretbay https://fretbay.com/fr/ who might be able to help. They carry almost anything. I haven't used them, so don't know their prices.
If one has to post loads and wait for bids, as the similar service below operates, don't rush to accept early bids, wait until you have a few to compare. I have found some bidders will drop their price if they don't get a quick respoinse.

They are similar to Loadup www.loadup.co.uk who I have used several times to bring things here (just N of Carcassonne) from the UK, including a pellet stove and an engine for our camper van, also taking the old engine back to the UK. You could try posting the load on their website if you have no luck with Fretbay. Someone might just be travelling over that route.
