I, too, have a Bricomarché story from nearly 25 years back when my French was pretty limited !
I bought a tile cutter and it broke on the first day. I took it back to Bricomarché and said I wanted my money back. In front of all the other customers, i said I didn't want a replacement as it would probably break in the same place. They gave me my money back. In fact I believe they were not obliged to give a refund and they can insist giving a replacement. I did later buy a different model, which worked fine.

My story is Leroy Merlin. Many years ago on our way down to the house from Calais we saw a very large L-M store. Had a walk round and there was a McCullough chainsaw with a prominent promo sign marked down by around 30%. We needed one so decided to buy. When we got to the till the girl stopped for a moment and then reached under her desk to check something.
With some trepidation I prepared myself for an argument. She said there has been a mistake, that sign should have been taken down yesterday. Before I could marshal my ammo she carried on 'today there is a further reduction, the sign should read 'down 50%' '.

Pretty insignificant compared to the examples above but today I was dragged out to help the memsahib with the shopping. I find it depressing at the best of times and hate every minute. Following along dutifully pushing the trolley a Promo sign caught my eye. It was a pack of six fat sausages on Promo. Being very keen on sausages and caring little about the latest brainwash to save the bloody planet, I leaned closer to see the price...............
€8.35.
I've never seen unicorn sausages before.
€8.35.
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.
