attestation d’accueil’
We got an A d'A for our daughter. Easy enough, but had to provide details of last tax report, size of house, number of rooms and a timbre fiscaux, the latter very easily done on line.
And our mairie had to find out what l was on about when l went to ask for it.

British tourists could be turned away from Spain unless they can prove they have £760 to spend
Holidaymakers may be forced to prove that they have at least £760 to spend in order to enter Spain this summer as it implements new restrictions that group British tourists in the same category as those travelling from a "third country" outside of the EU.
The Spanish government has said that following Brexit, British tourists hoping to enter the country may need to show they have enough money for their stay – a minimum of €100 (£85) per person per day, and have €900 (£761) available in funds.
A family of four staying in Spain for a week could therefore need proof of at least £3,141 before being allowed entry into the country. Tourists that come from outside of the European Union may be asked to use cash, cheques, travellers’ cheques or credit cards, as well as a bank statement as evidence of funds.
Spanish border agents may also ask holidaymakers to show an onward or return ticket, or supply proof of accommodation in order to be accepted into the country.
The British Foreign Office added: “The Spanish government has clarified that the ‘carta de invitation’ is one of the options available to prove that you have accommodation if staying with friends or family.”

I spoke to our Marie’s secretary 3 weeks ago regarding one for friends, who stayed 5 nights and left me today. His Secretary was aware of the procedure and talked me through the process, the maire was in his office and said welcome to France and grimaced, but agreed, when I responded that it was the fault of Brexit.
Easy enough to complete, but I’m tired of English people telling me that they « KNOW « it’s not needed, even though the French and UK government sites refer to it.

Our Mairie's office provided one for our daughter who arrived to visit us last Sunday.Chappers51 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 26, 2022 9:10 pm I spoke to our Marie’s secretary 3 weeks ago regarding one for friends, who stayed 5 nights and left me today. When I asked how many they usually provided I was told approx 4 - 6 each year .. adding our 2 offspring in will bump up the number to 6 - 8 each year, until the Etias (?) online system is brought in.

Is this to be replaced by ETIAS? Isn't ETIAS the Visa system - whereas this is to do with having adequate resources.

Seeing as these extra restrictions/checks have only really come into force since Jan 2021, and holiday traffic has been greatly reduced since then last year due to Covid lockdowns, I'd say the numbers are going rapidly increase from now on. This document, and the cash element (and health cover) is also supposed to be checked at the borders coming in - what a Royal PITA for the Border Control. But it needs pointing out to certain people, in big letters, that this is all adding to the delays primarily at Dover. Not France's fault - totally brought on by Brexit and the closed borders that the UK wanted!

This is my point Blaze.
I was told by an English friend that nothing’s changed. It’s interesting as she’s attending a music course and her first week’s accommodation is in a private home, not a gîte/chambre d’hôte (I understand the course leader provides a list of contacts who will host the participants), but she didn’t have an attestation for the stay.

Our daughter wasn't asked for hers when she came but as she hadn't been able to visit for 3 years we preferred to be safe rather than sorry if she'd encountered a jobsworth at border control.
