A small clarification: elsewhere on these meadows is a natural watering place, probably drying up now. It's time for a more expensive solution: eau potable or perhaps pumping water from a well.

Try adding the tiniest pinch of salt or a few drops of lemon or slices of cucumber (best option) to your glasses of water - it helps the body absorb electrolytes better so you don't just pee it all out again and overwork the kidneys.

One of the few occasions when rehydration salts can be beneficial. Available from Decathlon if not in the local shops.

Nice days and a thirsty gardener and his little Honda engine: one litre water, one litre fuel. Where has this summertime feeling gone, holidays forever? I would have preferred another scenario....

About the horses: there is a little pond at the other end of the terrain, at this momet still filled with water, but after walking from there to here they are still hoping to find a refreshment.

At 6 pm: 31 degrees, at 9 pm 20 degrees. A different sky with sometimes a few flashes and thunder, more than 2 km away.

Lots of refreshing rain overnight (can't believe I said that! ). It has nicely cooled things down again for a while ...

Predictably a lot of rain overnight and this morning.

I say predictably because today was to have been the commune's vide grenier and brocante.

Looking at what they pump into my arm every month, it needs to be 0.7% NaCl to be isotonic. No idea what it tastes like though.

No rain for two weeks!
Anyone would think it is summer.
