Wet and windy forecast here for the next few days. So many things to do outside - the battle of the brambles to name but one, they're everywhere!

On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

Welcome to Brittany.
Ah, that's a myth put about by Bretons to keep people away !
But the rain does seem to be very localised : inland Brittany can be far wetter and colder ... and hotter than we are on the coast. The only flooding we are at risk from is submersion by the sea (we're in a red zone). But it's unlikely to happen in our lifetime .....

We had three weeks of summer when it was hot and dry. 'tas rained solidly for the last three days, and I have never know such a wet year. It wouldn't be so bad, but it's been cold most of the time.
October last year we had temperatures up in the 30's then November arrived and it started raining and it's hardly stopped since then. Quack quack.

Oooh, I just finished posting and the sun's peeked out, shhhh I don't want to frighten it away.

Here too. Out I go to walk and enjoy the sun ! Best enjoy it while we can. It isn't on the program for tomorrow; morning temp of 6 tomorrow and clouds all day.

We've had nothing like as much rain as those of you to the west but temperatures from 18th April to 17th July and from 17th September until now have been consistently below average for here. (I keep a record of daytime highs from when we bought our house, so the average should by now be representative.) The "warm period" was pretty much average - so overall from spring onwards the temperatures have been disappointing.

Ditto, and we've been here 33 years. Quite the worst "summer" we've ever experienced.

This was only my third summer living in France. While it was not as good as the previous 2 it's still a lot better than most summers in the UK!

Mostly sunny forecast for today in the Gard but only reaching 20C.

At home in Berkshire it will be similar but will only reach 14C.

Rather cloudy, mainly dry, some sunny intervals and sometimes heavy rain, a mix of several seasons. Along the Autobahn from Kassel to Dortmund in Germany this afternoon. Yesterday much better in the city of Gotha (Prince Albert).
