Weather ... again

Over this side of the country, the guys who like to strap a couple of pieces of wood to their feet and take a short cut down the mountains are getting excited as last week's wet stuff came down as the white stuff over 3000M - a tad earlier than normal, apparently.

We've just had 4 days of sunshine, warm, but windy.

Yesterday we had gusts of 85 k, which consequently caused damage to the exterior. One of our shed roofs ended up flapping about, holding on by 1 bolt.

My concern was if it came off, it would end up in the road taking cables with it.

I called the Maire for help as OH is away. No reply. By this time it would soon be dark, a friend suggested I call the pompiers. I didn't as I felt it wasn't that type of emergency. Don't know if they would have come.

So this morning the wind has eased, it's pouring with rain and I have some damage around the garden. However the heavy fibre glass piece of roof was put back in place by the wind itself.

Oh my manonthemoon2, that looks serious. I hope you get some feedback soon to advise what to do. This being Sunday, not sure if anyone will reply.

We too had 85 to 90km winds yesterday evening and during the night. Kept me awake. One of our wood volet's bolts came loose leaving he top part hanging a bit. OH removed the volet for the duration of the storm. It got calmer around 3 or 4am. Thank goodness.

Lots of trees down throughout the department. Hundreds of homes without power as a result.

We have yet to go outside to check for any further damage. It had been raining up til now. We'll head out to have a look see.

A glorious ten or so days here with some frost at night; the irony of course is that this lovely shirt sleeve warmth is perhaps a sign of the end of the world as we know it.

We've had a lovely week with warm sunny afternoons though in the wind it's nippy. W>e haven't had high winds recently but we are due some rain soon.
