Well my grumblings yesterday really did look like they were going to come true.

Clear unbroken blue sky until well into the afternoon.

Then the cloud built up. Distant rumbles of thunder. Then a heavy downpour - on the other side of the valley! Not a drop here.

The sky cleared and the sun came out again.

Then late afternoon we eventually got a storm here with a sharp shower - just enough to ensure that the end of the TdF went off air.
Followed by a second storm into the evening with again a sharp shower - just enough to take the TdF highlights off air.

And then a third dose late in the evening.

All in all about 15mm. Enough to refill many of our water butts but not all.

A healthy dose here the last few days too - and much cooler temperatures which are such a relief. We had family from the UK visit us a couple of weeks ago, and they kindly brought a savage virus with them (they think when visiting the Bayeux tapestry) - it's wiped us all out for the last 10 days +, so I'm grateful for the cooler nights so we can actually get some sleep. Haven't felt this ill for possibly 5 years.

I don't think we'll be allowing visitors again unless they quarantine first!

More rain and storms due later today - at least that reduces the stress of not being able to work .....and there's still Tour de France to enjoy in the afternoons.

Yes, steady bits of rain and cool temperatures. What a change. Garden is trying to green up again.

Sorry to hear your guests brought you an unwanted gift. I always fear that when guests arrive.

Daughter has been sick two different times over the last couple of months, but she lives/works in Paris, so is exposed to FAR too many people for my liking.

We're feeling the effects of storm Amy : a strong wind from the north west that's been blowing all night, everything rattling. It's rained as well - but that's always welcome. But it's not really any worse than the winds we expect at this time of year. So often the leaves are blown off the trees before we see them in all their autumn glory, which is sad.

For those of you who drink tea: I've just read an article on the Beeb about the effect storms (low pressure) have on the boiling poinnt of water and the difference in taste that engenders, so be warned!
