Vaccination pass needed now even outside at a cafe

We sat down for coffee this morning at our local cafe.
Had to have the vaccination papers scanned before you could order.

Does anyone know / has anyone tried to use a non-French QR code or non-French app?

I assume it is not necessary to get the French app on a phone to scan a foreign QR code?

I suspect it may be, n. I have heard of some tourists with an NHS passport which didn't work here when scanned.

Our holiday home neighbours from Dubai are here for a couple of weeks.
Because of their jobs ( hotel business management) both have had four innoculations over the last 18 months but ones not recognised here in France so they came in through Spain and had PCRs before driving up.

Yes - I heard the UK ones weren't compatible as the UK did its own thing - and I have had to get my vaccinations loaded onto my NHS (England) records. I understood the rest of Europe had standardised - but wondered if anyone had tried.

Maybe a weekend experiment!

We ate our lunch in a restaurant in Cannes today. They let us onto the terrace with the minimum of fuss and a speedy check of our French passes sanitaires. My daughter, who lives in Sweden, had her Swedish QR code accepted without question.
And lunch was delicious.

On the AntiCovid app the pass is displayed with the EU flag.

Spent a couple of hours today helping friends get their NHS certificates recognised on the EU Covid system.

IF they had had but printed out their NHS certificates this might have been easy but theirs was accessed via their phones. The problems began because they then had to scan the QR codes on the NHS certificates into the EU vaccine pass. Being non-techy and they even less so, te only solution I could find was for him to scan her NHS QR codes and for her tio scan his. So they now hold the EU covid pass for the other - if that makes sense.

Thank goodness we just have paper passes.

Agree [mention]exile[/mention] more than once on going through uk customs the officials said how pleased they were us having it all on paper as phones cause so much delay, not finding the right page etc, to dropping said phone and loosing everything.
