Yes is the answer but it could have changed.
Some French senator wanted non EU citizens banned from buying property in France apparently they push up prices.

Of course one never hears them saying that said properties have been on the market for years, if not decades, available to said lemon-suckers all that time.

Using an alternative definition - people who are miserable and take the joy away from everything.

I agree, Hotrodder. The people that complain about foreigners buying up properties and pushing up prices seem conveniently to forget that it's generally their compatriots who have demanded the high prices in the first place.
I worked for a French estate agent one summer and a French woman rang up and said she wanted to sell her house to the highest bidder, and preferably to les Anglais because they would pay more than the French would. I told her politely (but with great pleasure) that we were not an auction house and she could take her property elsewhere

The argument about non-EU buyers pushing up prices is exactly the same as complaining that Parisians (they're all rich !) buying secondaires on the coast, in villages etc. The prices rocket and the properties are empty for 10 months of the years, and there's nothing affordable for locals to buy. Who is to blame ?

In Cornwall, a county of low wages and high property prices, the housing market is now well out of reach of most locals. Pointing the finger and blaming people is pointless as it’s down to simple economics, supply and demand.
