Dol de Bretagne

Further to my post earlier on in the year I'm now looking at Dol de Bretagne as a possible refuge from the southern heat. My reasons include it not being to far from the coast and having a reasonably active train station. I'm off for a recce in September but was wondering if those that know the place would be willing to give their views. I'm thinking of buying something central so as to not to have to rely on a car.

We live about 20 minutes from Dol and you would certainly find it a welcome relief from the heat. The climate in this area is temperate - not too hot in summer and not too cold in winter. It rarely snows or goes much below freezing and is nothing like as wet as people think ! There are always exceptions - like this summer - but we find the climate perfect for us, which is why we moved here.

Dol is a lively town with a very pretty centre and it has a market every Saturday. It's up on a hill so isn't at risk from flooding !
The train service is excellent and you can get to Rennes in about 30 minutes or Saint Malo in about 15 minutes.

IOHO a beautiful town - excellent restaurants and a very good bar!
