A different load of rubbish

#1 Post by hughnique »

Having had little use from the above ground "swimming pool" over the past couple of years I was determined to get it sorted this year. I have thrown loads of money on Chlor Choc, PH+, PH-, and eventually could see the bottom, which then resembled some sort of coral reef. Tried the normal useless brush and hose put in the skimmer box but it wouldn't shift, only way was hose pipe on jet, stir it all up and try and filter it out, which after a few days gave me nice clear water but still with a dirty bottom. As if by a quirk of fate, the answer to all my prayers presented itself to me via Amazon, a rechargeable robot cleaner, on offer at 200€, and, as normal, on a whim, without reading all the negative reviews I later came across, decided to take the plunge. At first it seemed to be collecting a fair amount of what appears to be a fine dust, but slowly it seems to have gone on to limp mode.
So that's the problem but having had it for a couple of months, it is not eligible for a return to Amazon, and trying to reach customer services is a minefield, has anyone got any pointers as to how it might be possible to contact Amazon with a complaint about the fit for purpose aspect of this heap of pony. TIA

A dirty bottom can be a real curse.

There should be a guarantee - so send it back for repair. After two or three failures vendor may prefer a refund?

Husband does all the Amazon purchases. Over the years, he's had to contact Amazon after sale service many times. He uses the contact option they offer and has always gotten a reply. I think you have to be signed into your Amazon account to see the contact option.

I can't recall having to return something that was beyond the normal return period. But, we did complain about a coffee maker that leaked water all over the place within a few weeks of owning it. The seller contacted us - through our Amazon account and offered to replace it - no idea if that was just dumb luck or what. Had to return a juicer that cracked within the first 30 days of owning it. Packed it up, printed off their return form and got promptly reimbursed.

Have you tried to use the Amazon contact link ? I presume this is Amazon.fr right ?

I have used the contact link which includes an option to e-mail in English if required.

After several e mails between the vendor and me it has been agreed a refund, great I thought, just send the serial number and we will issue a sticker for the return parcel and then issue refund, yeah right. Sent the s n and we are now back to the original exact e mail where they say they will deal with it by way of an exchange, after having said they will refund. I can see this turning in to a nightmare.

This sounds similar to my experience of Hong Kong Chinese dealers. I am sure I was exchanging emails with a bot for a couple of weeks. They offered first a part refund, then a better offer or two until they offered a full refund and told me to keep the offending article and not bother to return it. I already contacted the credit card company to try to get a refund and after a week or two the credit card company told me that all was resolved. I checked the bank statements and saw that the refund occurred a day or so after my first complaint.

Even when dealing with a new unknown supplier I am confident when I use Paypal or Visa. They may be difficult to contact sometimes but are quick to sort out a problem. I had been waiting for weeks recently for something to arrive and got fed up waiting. I sent a message via ebay expressing my reluctance to not wait any longer and the next day I received a message telling me I would be getting a full refund, (it turned up the day after).

Some time ago I had ordered some electronic components from a specialist supplier in the Nederlands. They were listed as "in stock". After waiting several weeks and getting no response to my messages I took the issue to Paypal. I was given a refund within the week. I then did some research and found this particular seller was well known for selling items they did not actually have.

With UK visa, I think it has to be over £100 to get a refund (even if you only pay part of cost on Visa).

I used to use PayPal for smaller items - but need to see what their new abuse of my personal data involves before I continue.

The UK has/had a PayPal equivalent called NoChex - NatWest I think - utter rip-off - avoid at all costs.
