Our house was targeted last night

Woken from a deep sleep at 0115 am by the afterburners of a fighter jet at about 100m over our house. I think there were two of them as we were buzzed all night till about 0330. Each pass directly overhead and at about 100m. How long can they fly like this without refueling? Nice to know The French military are into serious training.

Wow. When we lived in Sainte-Cécile-les-Vignes, we were very close to a big air base. The town's website would post the regular fly over schedule so residents would not freak out. Unscheduled fly overs usually made the next morning headlines as so many folks would report/inquire about them.

We get lots of fly overs here too, but so far, never in the wee hours. That would definitely give me a scare.

We get them from time to time, as well as the Casa planes which fly low but slowly. We also hear the boom of the sound barrier occasionally.
The loudest bang was an earth tremor just out in the bay which gave us one hell of a fright - nearly blew us out of bed !

I've never known them fly at night over populated areas. We've always had flyovers, but only daytime. Time to complain methinks.

Many years ago I was hiking in the Scottish Highlands, and could hear some jets flying but could not see them, suddenly looking down into the valley a pair of Buccaneers or Jaguars flew below us, so a fly under!

The same happened to me in Wales with the jets flying along the A5 below me

I have seen that both here and on the North York. Moors.

One of my former work colleagues also living on the NYM was on his roof repointing a chimney stack when he was buzzed by a very low flying jet which caused some not unexpected reaction. Having mentally recovered he climbed down and rang the nearest RAF base to complain. They of course denied all knowledge. Did he perhaps get the plane's registration. Are you joking was a polite version of the response but he was now going back onto the roof and if it happened again they would be able to identify the plane with the cement streak across the fuselage.

Where I live are 4 houses of which 2 are gites. When we arrived here we doubled the population in the hamlet, so pretty much a deserted area. The nearest village is 4km away. Why complain? they are training to beat any Putin bastard trying to take over europe
