We haven’t been to Bordeaux for a while. We went today to fetch family from the airport.
Alongside the A62 is a pretty little chateau (proper old one with a little round tower) which was surrounded by vines which were tended by people with shire horses.
I say ‘was’ because all the vines have now been uprooted. Such a shame. They had put so much effort into that land. I wonder what will become of the horses, the workers and the chateau now.
A sad sight

A sad sight
Anticipation of Trump's tariffs ? Didn't want to sell to Chinese ... any number of reasons for grubbing up. We saw apple orchards grubbed up because they couldn't get the pickers ... It's always sad to see.
Over-production may also be a cause as there is apparently not the demand for Bordeaux that there once was - perhaps it depends which market they were targeting
