Michel Barnier for President?

#1 Post by Char »

I see he's just launched a website - so it looks like he might be laying the ground work for a run at the presidency perhaps. He said he wouldn't decide until the autumn maybe he's just testing public opinion.

Could be interesting .... (not necessarily the website but the elections could be interesting, although I'm sure some may find the website interesting, I did - I'll shut up now  )

Well, if Macron looks like a dead duck and if the Right cant decide on a candidate then there could be space for a unifying candidate of the middle, I guess. And given the anger and unrest in France at the moment it would seem that the same old political faces are not going to cut the mustard. But, please not Barnier, he has never succeeded at anything!

Does it really make that much difference who is in power, I like Barnier not that I have met him.
Taxes and the cost of living will still go up.

Michel Barnier has officially announced he's standing. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/ ... l-election

Not sure how much of a chance he has though, I've just been speaking to my daughter about the elections next year and she doesn't know who he is. 'Never heard of him' she said. She's just looking forward to getting rid of Macron.

Think I'll keep my thoughts to myself, as its so easy to stir up shit.
Just that I'm so glad I will be able to vote.

Yes, he announced his candidacy last night on TF1. I like the man but he doesn't seem presidential material to me. Like Blaze, I expect to see Edouard Philippe declare his bid in the next few months and I would welcome that. Bertrand? Non merci.
They're all promising to "unify" France - nobody can do that!

Then there's Macron - I don't discount giving him my vote.
