Well done the Red Roses for winning the world cup in what was an excellent final.

I was however disappointed on a couple of counts.

BBC decided that the third place playoff was not of sufficient importance to be shown on the mainstream channels. I wonder if, had England lost to France in the semis, whether the playoff would still not have been broadcast. I did watch the match courtesy of TF1 on the computer but would have preferred the bigger screen.

I was also disappointed in the lack of Royal presence at the presentations.

But full marks to all of the players and teams throughout the competition.

Yes, a thrilling final match, Exile, and the others I watched were very good. I was also surprised that no Royal was present at the medal/ cup presentation. An excellent crowd, just under 82,000.

Excellent results from the Lionesses and the Red Roses.

As a dyed-in-the-wool Ireland supporter, may I add my congraatulations? I didn't watch the match as I can't seem to drum up any enthusiasm for women's rugby or indeed soccer.
Roll on the 6 Nations...

You missed some excellent games @MAD87 that were every bit as good as the men's games IMO; but like you, I now look forward to the 6 Nations.

I’m rather like you Mad.

Having been an avid rugby follower for well over 50 years (and tried, unsuccessfully, with contemporaries when I was a student to set up a women’s team) I cannot share the enthusiasm for the women’s game.

I’m hoping to be able to see some of the Autumn games, but I guess I might have to pay for the privilege.

I watched nearly all of the games.
Very few penalty kicks to goal taken, very little dirty play. The frenchies resorted to biting, pony tail pulling. There a few high tackles but very few players went off for head injury assessments.
The influence of sevens rugby was plain to see in some teams.
The Japanese were soooo polite.
The Canadians self funded.
I think all of the teams enjoyed the experience of playing in big stadia with reasonable sized crowds.
My only concern is the long term effects of high impact tackles on the brain.
