RIP Mike Proctor

#1 Post by tagh »

Only 77, seems very young to go, Mike was probably the best all rounder of his time, even ever. Had it not been for the nutty international cricket ban against the Springboks his test record would have been unparalleled. At Gloucester cricket club where he played for many years and broke bowling and batting records the flag will be flying at half mast until next season.
As a kid in Africa Mike was a phenomenon with both bat and ball; as an opening batsman for his prep school he scored a double century on tour against a highly rated Joburg school (DHPS?). The other opener, Malcolm Glennie scored a century and went on to play for Natal much later.

RIP Mike.
