I've taken another photo of the Giant Hogweed. I've also signalled its presence to 2 environmental groups but whether it's of interest remains to be seen.

I don't think there's anything much they can do in the very rural areas. What's the solution, spraying loads of chemicals everywhere to kill off the toxic "wild flowers"? It's a difficult one. L'ambroisie - from the ragweed family? Does that include ragwort? Again, it doesn't seem to get the "quel horreur" reaction that it would in the UK. So many wild areas around here, our own land included, how are people supposed to control these undesirable plants?

Ambroisie and ragwort come from the same family Asteraceae, as do daisies. I've pulled up loads of ragwort over the years but not had any problems though I do tend to wear gloves.
Getting rid of Giant Hogweed is difficult and on agricultural land, spraying is recommended
I would be interested to hear what the "experts" say, that is, if they actually contact me !
There's much more info from Canadian website than France. But hey, look how long France took to recognise ragwort as poisonous to horses and other animals.
This site's informative :

Mud Mud Mud. I did manage to mow half of the lawn last week, during a sunstorm, but then got rained off. I will have to do it all again, or it will be half mown again. Now for another moan. I don’t know if all the rain has helped, but I expect little hay this year as the yellow rattle has almost filled the meadow.

Good grief, Mad. That'll put a stop to you running up and down stairs two at a time !
Seriously, hope it isn't too painful and it's unfortunate that recovery time is so long ..... a good excuse to sit in the sun (if it still exists), catch up on some reading .....

Thank you foks. Sun would indeed be welcome, not that I've ever fait le bronzage, save accidentally whilst gardening. I will miss that activity, but staggering around the garden this year is definitely out. My sons came over this afternoon to mow the (tiny) meadow, bless their little cotton socks. The mower complained but it's done.

To get you through your recovery period, @MAD87 you could get some help with the garden and claim back 50% of the cost from les impots. Use a registered company to do it.
