Is it worth it

#31 Post by Headers »

I have 2 raised beds. This year I used bags of compost to plant the tomatoes in. 2 per bag. 6 Marmande, 6 long variety. So far I have had about 25 kilos from them. I have had a real battle with animals - badgers/fox/hare/deer. I have 4 courgette plants in the other bed. Both beds are covered with an old sheet which helps retain moisture as well as keeping down weeds.
I water my tomatoes with a little capillary system so the leaves never get wet(unless it rains).
This is the last year I’ll be doing this as my beds are made out of planks and the big ants are nearly finished with them. It’s a real commitment and we want to try and get away a bit more before we’re too old to enjoy the travelling.
