Watched in the local café with a mainly British bunch, it would have been livelier had France got to the final, but it was good. Came home straight afterwards to catch the celebrations on the Beeb, great stuff.
Only one fly in the ointment : when Chloe took her shirt off celebrating her winning goal, an Essex oik by the door commented that you do get real women in this sport, dontcha? Silence. Then I said 'pity we don't get many real men in here, isn't it? Grow up S***e'.
My Mum put him firmly in his place a few years ago, bless her - he avoided her like the plague after that
Thankfully he sold his second home so I assume he was just visiting, sincerely hope he's not bought another house here. he does lower the tone.
How do people live without at least one dog in the house?

With this hand, I will lift your sorrows. Your cup will never be empty, for I will be your wine. With this candle, I will light your way into darkness. With this ring, I ask you to be mine.........The Corpse Bride

I don't like football at all, but I have to say how pleased I am that the ladies won.

Watching their party today on the news I am thrilled for them.

Don’t tell Tyldesley residents they come from Wigan!!
I lived there for 9 months after I’d sold my house (in the next village) before moving here.
All these small towns/large villages were originally mining or mill towns but now they form part of Wigan borough and Greater Manchester.

Don't even mention Leigh they hate being part of Wigan. Just like Farnworth and Horwich were swallowed up by Bolton MBC. In the mining days apparently you could could tell which street people lived in by the slight variations in their accents

I lived in Astley for 13 years, my neighbour’s family came from Astley Green and were connected to the coal merchant who was based next to the pit. Her husband was a « foreigner «  as he came from somewhere about 3 miles away. Oh yes Leigh - my local shopping centre!!

Yes it was a good game as we won something at last, as said no diving, sliding and not one gob on the grass, a definite improvement, however it appears it was played at a place called WEMBERLEY, anyone know where that is. As normal hysteria follows, like the tennis, every man and his dog get the rackets out afterwards, we are inundated on the news with small girls donning their football boots, next thing women competing in F1??
