East is East
Caught up with this last night. Wouldn't be to a lot of folks taste but I thoroughly enjoyed it and I did have a good laugh here and there. A Pakistani man is married to a British lady. They have 6 kids and live in a terraced house with 2 bedrooms and pee in a bucket at night. Set in Salford in the 1960s. The father is doing his upmost to marry his sons off to Pakistani women without much luck. He owns the 'English Chippy" that's run by his wife and her friend. It's sad, funny, lots of swearing, and he's not particularly nice to his wife ie she gets a couple of beatings. It's quite thought provoking. I'm not sure if it would be allowed on TV now unless it was captioned with 'may cause offence' etc - I'd recorded it some time back!
With this hand, I will lift your sorrows. Your cup will never be empty, for I will be your wine. With this candle, I will light your way into darkness. With this ring, I ask you to be mine.........The Corpse Bride

I remember watching it years ago,it is very funny and thought provoking. Over Christmas we watched Love Actually again which is a classic but all I could think was “they wouldn’t get away with some of it today “

I saw it a few years ago and yes, found it very funny. They don't make films like that anymore
