Don't like any of those.
Enjoy the films on Arte and zap the other channels for films and docs.
Best météo on FR2 Anaïs Baydemir (elle est enceinte encore une fois)

We haven't got UK and we don't watch Quiz/plateau type programmes. But we do enjoy a good drama or police series/films like Alex Hugo, Petit Meurtres d'Agatha Christie, and of course the excellent Engrenages The themes in the police series tend to be repetitive - police woman leaves Paris to return to the village where she was born and by chance finds she is working with her ex-husband/boyfriend .... But the scenery is often worth seeing - the Parc Mercantour is shown off beautifully in Alex Hugo. And then there is often a "malédiction" ....
Did anyone watch the creepy Zone Blanche ?

Some years ago we watched Pekin Express because a friend was in it. Sadly he didn't win !

There's a really good series on France 3 "Apocalypse" about Germany and France during the war. The film has been colourised and it really brings it to life. It's always interesting to hear about the war from a different perspective. The destruction of the battleships at Mers el Kebir unsurprisingly enraged the French. But with Pétain running Vichy France and collaborating with the Germans, the risk of the French fleet getting into German hands was too high ... de Gaulle never forgave the UK which inevitably had long term consequences.

Saw the first series of that on Netflix (cheated, as they had English subtitles!) Tried watching the 2nd series without, but felt I was missing too much detail. Yes, very creepy, but at the same time strangely compelling...

Otherwise, we don't have access to French TV anymore. Years ago, our dish got struck by lightning and when we started again, we must have moved it because we were suddenly able to get UK TV. We took it as an omen, as we'd been getting increasingly disappointed with French choice, and for children it was pretty poor. It served a purpose getting our ears used to the French language. English TV gave the children more choice of watching "real" things rather than animated stuff, and it expanded their English language to keep them properly bilingual.

Yes, I loved Engrenages. In fact watching it again for the second time on DVD.
I think it must have been on Canal+ originally which is why I missed it. A proper policier.

Only joking, I have such a bed memory that I often can't remember how things turned out. Had to think a bit before remembering that one.
