I'm finding this a bit different to the usual expats living somewhere.
The people featured in the programme either buy, work or manage villages. So far it's France and Italy.
One of the villages was restored by a French man. Take a look at the website.

Yes a bit different, but with the same old thing, mayhem and mistakes probably to follow, and the first one has the now obligatory couple, perhaps tipping point is becoming appealing again.

The problem is that most people would not find the following interesting:
Couple buy village. They complete the work to restore it on time and on budget. Extreme weather does not impact the project. She does not become pregnant and they are both still happily married.

The couple in Italy seem very pleasant, I noticed what resembled a UK van they were unloading wood from, they must have been in situ for several years, and still have a UK reg van, does Italy not have similar rules regarding re registering vehicles?

I am sure there will be similar rules - but probably different in the detail.
I have also observed that the Sawbridges are also seen driving from time to time a GB registered vehicle. It is easy to take the holier than thou view but there might be quite legitimate reasons for this. For example the vehicle may belong to and be registered to a UK company (for example their own productions company) and provided it spends the majority of its time in the UK with no extended stays abroad, that would be legal.

Unless someone knows differently of course.
