Hi
We have just finished having the house rewired and have an issue with something furry chewing through cables in the loft.Due to the latest restrictions we now can't visit the house to sort out the problem and am struggling to find anybody to do it. We are in 52400 Haute Marne area.
Anybody any suggestions please?

Hello Ihatework - People who deal with wasps' nests etc often do dératisation as well. Try a search under "Désinsectisation" or "désinsectiseur" - traitement/éradication de nuisibles.

Can't you make an email enquiry to the mairie. Good ones usually keep a list of different trades used in their bailiwick.

Thanks for the replies, I've tried the Mairie before for help and even though he's a very nice person, they don't seem to want to recommend! I'll try again though

Yes I've tried that but we are fairly remote and nobody wants to travel! I've emailed the Mairie so will see what happens next. Even Rentokill haven't responded

Can't you get a neighbour to lob a few raticide sachets into the attic? They're free here from mairies.
You might end up with a few decaying bodies but this must be preferable to chewed 'lectrics.

Just be sure there is no one nearby with a cat. Around this time last year we lost one of ours. She was in extreme pain, had vomited around 300ml liquid including a lot of blood. She then had a series of seizures and died painfully a couple of hours later. Vet recognised all of the symptoms and came to the conclusion that she had been killed by rat poison most likely through catching and eating a poisoned mouse, rat or vole.

That's terrible, maybe a more controlled method might be called for.
Rentokil did respond but now have gone quiet again!!
I had bought some of the tea bag type but obviously not enough
