Nuclear power station shut down again

Having only just restarted on Friday, the sole operational reactor at the Golfech power station, around 100 kilometres north-west of Toulouse, was shut down again on Saturday evening, according to a statement from EDF. Regulations require a reduction in output or a temporary shutdown of the plant’s reactor when the average daily temperature of the River Garonne exceeds 28°C, as the Golfech site discharges its cooling water at a temperature that is already slightly higher than that of the river. This latest suspension is the fourth since the start of the summer, due to the heatwaves. Source: Lefigaro, where they also published a picture of a nice lake in the Swiss Canton of Neuchâtel.
