Brico Depot Rant

Our local BricoD does retain an assisted checkout but you are normally encouraged to use the self checkout. You know they are owned by B&Q, I had some issues with some glazing once and referred, it to the kingfisher group on the UK as all I got was the gallic shrug from here, they did sort it out and issued an apology for the behavior of their staff. I don't use them much now as the arse that stole my fish works there, and I don't want to bump in to him. I do sometimes use the selfies in SuperU, but take the opportunity to get rid of all my shrapnel in the chute, in payment.

Brico Depot Rant

There is an outfit much closer to me where I have been taking chainsaw chains to be sharpened and to buy 2t oils, etc. for my equipment. They have always seemed noticeably more expensive than Brico D, Brico Marche, etc. for many items. They seemed more geared for agricultural equipment and farmers' requisites but in recent years they seem to be moving toward the DIY sector and the prices are not that bad now. I went in yesterday to find some wood strips to finish a staircase. I was amazed to find exactly what I wanted. I was expecting to use ramin (a decent straight-grained hardwood) but found their ordinary pine offerings were knot free and very cheap. A nice change from the ones at Brico D that closely resemble a corkscrew. Quite a lot of people in the queue for the till but they called in another person to open another.
Hopefully they won't join the fashion for self-checkout.
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.
