The Macon completed, what we would call the scratch coat today and I asked if he wanted me to get the top coat, Enduit, crepi, don't know what the technical name is, then he informs me that he is not coming back until printemps, taking it he means springtime, as the weather could turn and the scratch coat needs time to fully dry out, seems to be a load of bullshit to me.

Certainly here in the SW, September is the optimum month for applying crépi!

The scratch coat needs around a month to fully cure and dry before the top coat is applied. That in turn needs around a month to fully cure and if there is any frost during that period, there is a risk of cracking or delamination.
