Car paint repair

#1 Post by Hotrodder »

Anyone know of a source of automotive paint supplies here in 22 (or online)?
Easy enough to find in UK but they don't post abroad. Both our cars are badly sun blistered and need sorting. Resprays here cost way more than the vehicles are worth so it looks like I have to DIY if the rain holds off long enough.

I don't know whether these are of any use, but a quick search gave these companies
https://www.stardustcolors.com
https://nipponpaints.eu
https://lakgruppen.com/#/
https://www.car-paint-store.com/fr/
https://maxi-color-auto.com
you may need to switch to the French page for some of the global sites?

Curtis: No rattle cans please. The results would look worse then the peeling clear coat.

Very useful indeed! If nothing else it will help to identify the French terms used.
One of them even explains in great detail how the various modern finishes are applied.
You're a star.

Do you intend to spray the whole car? If not then the "standard" colour for your model may not match the rest of the paint if it is quite old. You would need to have it checked and then specially mixed. But I am sure you know that.

Thanks. Looks like a good alternative to one I have shortlisted. Similar prices and full range of ancillaries.

Yes. I'm not expecting miracles here, spraying outdoors at the mercy of dust, wind, passing traffic, and insects so an exact match would be a bonus but not expected. I'll be removing the bonnet and getting my practice on that with the newfangled materials and once that is sorted I will tackle the wife's car. Much wider areas to do on that one but an easier colour with no metallic.
