Not entirely sure this is the best section, but here goes . . .

Does anyone use Smartwater in France?

Actually, has l'Academie thought up some alternative name?

Are the Police geared up to detect or use it?

Any recommendations?

I googled Smartwater and it appears to be a drink made by Coca-Cola...

@ Tagh, Smart Water, yes, for the Coca-Cola company. Five times the price of standard bottled water, probably about thousand times compared with water from the tap. Healthy drinking water, the new gold.

Correct.

I am not sure the Police will be interested in a Coca-Cola drink!

Actually, just browsing their site I found https://swt.smartwater.com/contactez-nous/

Still, do the French Police understand it?

It sounds a very useful tool. Bank notes being treated after thefts from handbags or jackets were reported (including me) in an office where I worked in Germany many many years ago. The idea of gel on a door handle or gate sounds clever because spraying someone could risk escalating the violence.

In the UK it is now also being used for domestic violence - https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-60414452

But I was thinking more of the anti-theft usage.
