There are 28000 homes shown as using fuel oil to heat their homes in 47.
The price for 1000 litres has just hit 1800 euros.
How many households will be able to pay this. There is little help towards the cost of fioul unless you have a VERY low income.
Lots of help to replace systems but many householders are likely to be old in old properties needing enormous amounts of work.

Applies here too. Almost every dwelling in the village is heated by wood and/or oil. The village runs a syndicate, whereby we get a slightly lower price because the deliverer makes one journey, rather than many, each time a house needs a refill. I think the record was 3 full tanker loads on the same day.

I can't see that happening again any time soon. Everyone seems to be hanging on, hoping for a drop in price and peace in Iran.

Only 622 litres, so less than last year.
Delivery man is really chatty. Mostly cars. he is retiring next year and has already bought a hoist for the garage and he will buy a 2CV and a traction.

Our only alternative would be to change our boiler for biofioul. That would cost a bit. So would changing the fuel tank ...
We can only hope that someone stops Trump's war, if indeed that's what's causing the hike in prices.
I read that there was some suggestion that the gilly joneses should get out and manifest but that could be a non starter : lany of the original protesters say they don't want to go through all that again ....

I bought our present house as a wreck in 2005 & as a design engineer in the commercial HEVAC industry thought long & hard about how I was going to heat it.
No 'town' gas available so propane & oil considered but discounted due to vagaries in the fuel market & cost of boiler & radiators .
In the end, having our own source of trees, I settled on two log burners & electric inertia type radiators as back up plus upgrades to already quite good insulation.
This arrangement served us well until an initial 'basic' Brico Depot air/air heat pump was installed in the kitchen/day room as a trial & worked well for a few years until it was replaced by a more modern Mitsubishi unit using inverter technology.
The Mitsubishi unit was so efficient I later removed the lounge electric radiators & installed consul units in the lounge & rarely used attic apartment.
We now only light the lounge woody for the ambiance in the winter evenings with heat pumps doing the business with no effort on our part.
Our 'leccy' bills are very reasonable, the house is always warm & we're not reliant on the vagaries of other fuel markets.
An added welcome bonus has been the air con from the reverse cycle units during the recent heat waves.
Good decisions all round with hindsight & a good bit of luck.

A friend had a conventional hot water and radiator heating system run from a wood burner, last year he changed the wood burner to a heat pump to heat the water, and is impressed how well it works.

I wanted a heat pump from the day we bought this house but both our electricia and the estate agent persuaded me against. Result: a new gas boiler because the vendors told porkies about the age of the old one (a pig to start). OH is parsimonious to the nth degree, so in winter I wear my wardrobe. He doesn't feelo the cold so why should I?
