There is an article in Le Figaro today Chaudière à gaz ou pompe à chaleur, comment faire le bon choix ? which might be of interest? I don't have a subscription so cannot see the complete article but many of the comments are interesting.

Thanks Elsie. OH has a subscription but he's so anti spending money (deep pockets, short arms) that he's probably already recycled that edition.
I've pretty much decided to go the insulation route anyway.

Having read so many differing opinions (all put as facts), I think that’s a very good idea - the recommended amount has probably gone up since you put yours in.
