It looks like we need a thread for this - if there isn't already one. Quick search didn't reveal anything.
My daughter lives in an appt in Toulouse, 2nd floor I believe. Her landlady wants to get an air pump installed in May - for cool air in the summer, cheaper warm air in the winter. The box of tricks, with the fan, will have to be on their tiny balcony, unfortunately taking up about half their usable space, but they're willing to accept that for cheaper heating and cooler summers!
BUT, the engineer undertaking the work says that the condensation that will be produced will fill a bowl/bucket which will need to be emptied nearly every day when in use! Is that normal? As the water has nowhere to go, it has to be collected.

Surely the balcony has a drain to evacuate rainwater.Bayleaf wrote: ↑Thu Feb 29, 2024 2:46 pm It looks like we need a thread for this - if there isn't already one. Quick search didn't reveal anything.

If the outside unit is wall mounted at high level a drain pipe should be fitted so cannot this be extended to be near the balcony drain? Inside unit will also need a drain.
Just to be clear; condensation will come from the inside units' drain in cooling mode & outside unit on defrost cycle when in heating mode.

No idea, it's just what daughter has said - maybe she didn't hear all the information correctly. There's strict rules about attaching anything to the outside of these appt blocks, which is why it has to sit on the tiny balcony.
So, there'll need to be a something to collect the indoor condensation in summer as well?
