The septic tank: la fosse septique.

#1 Post by RobertArthur »

The beginning of a thread is always the hardest, so an easy wayout: several remarks, questions, responses and links about the septic tank in France. One question doesn't get addressed: if your are not permanently in France, the second home owners, what about the alternatives for the traditional system? In other words: is a microstation something to be considered or not? Probably not reading this information.

That'll be useful for some people Robert.

We spent the first year putting stuff down the loo for the fosse - only to find out that it had been changed to mains drainage the year before they sold the property and didn't tell the estate agent.

Now we are getting into a minefield, there are so many theories about how to make sure the foss works well and some people spend a fortune on products, back in uk years ago we used to throw a dead cat into a new foss septic to get it going.
After being a builder for over 55 years and building dozens back in the uk, quite a few here I've seen it all.
Dont even try to keep up with the new regs here,as we were told when purchasing 10 years ago the foss had to be renewed we will get the subvention and a firm to install one when extending into the barn.
Think it will be with a chanver filter.
