Yellowed headlamps need cleaning for CT

#11 Post by edythuk »

I got mine cleaned at the main dealer when they were doing a safety check (after unsuccessfully trying all the online remedies). But when my son was here from the US he said that when he lived in Arizona he used to wax the plastic every 6 months to cut down the damage caused by the UV light so I'm trying that.

As I said in the other topic, the guy at the CT place recommended using one of the kits to clean the yellowing headlights of our 16 year old Passat which had gone rather opaque but not enough to fail the test. The 30€ kit we bought brought them up like new and it didn't take long to do.

Yet another reason to drive Morris Minors !
Don't have that problem.
How do people live without at least one dog in the house?

Our daughter had to clean hers to pass the CT and then went onto sell the vehicle. Citroën did a nice job and it wasn't that expensive

I'd much rather diy for half an hour than throw €80+ x2 at new ones that will take up to an hour to fit depending on make and model.
Er.. that's €80 to polish both the old lamp plastic lens. They did quite a good job.
Holy Cow! I thought that was for new ones. I should start up a business doing them at boot fairs. Nice little earner.
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.
