When my "ex" returned to England back in 2009 she bought a Suzuki to take back. It had a 1985 tax disc in the window, had been used in the south of France the whole time.

Many decades ago I was subliminally influenced to distrust foreigners, secondhand car salesmen, and estate agents. That distrust has faded. The new kid on the block is Technology, and those who use it to exploit us.

That would be a great idea. Mop up those who think they are above the law and kick 'em hard in the wallet.

I think this may not be just a Brit problem. Round here I regularly see quite a few Dutch vehicles round here and in one case the owner explained to me that it would not pass a French car CT. "It" being a very large American pick up truck.

I noticed on another forum this morning, someone asking how to bring in their Mercedes from the USA. Mercedes said they couldn't issue a Cof C. Sounds like the owner is prepared to do things the hard way instead of just selling it and buying another here.

I know of someone who has lived in south of France for around thirty years whose ten year old car was on UK plates then re-registered on French plates when they moved to the current house in central France early last year. Recently, it appears they are returning to the med and the same car is back on UK plates!
