Speed bumps
I agree with the long list of detrimental effects of these speed controls. The lack of uniform and acceptable design is pathetic. All of these do contribute to improved safety for local residents, particularly near schools and hospitals but even they have to live with the inevitable, loud noises made by the speeding cars and lorries who just don’t care.

Speed bumps
I have had the misfortune to live on a fairly main road in the past, and still do today. I maintain that traffic passing by at speed makes less noise and disturbance than those who brake to a crawl to negotiate the hump and then accelerate away or carry on at a barely reduced speed and "bottom out" their suspension.
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.
