Um... I look up my routes in advance using actual maps on paper, google maps with streetview preview of actual junctions. And I type them out in BIG for Fixit to hold up on a clipboard. It helps that I have a good sense of direction. I suppose one day I'll use satnav!
How do people live without at least one dog in the house?

Google maps and late voice alerts: a roadmap for solving these problems.
So far no problems with Waze, because I use my smartphone and its internal loudspeaker, a direct connection. But they do exist. Another roadmap.
Late voice alerts in Waze are typically caused by server-side timing updates, active Bluetooth audio lag, or running the app without an active destination route. Waze occasionally updates distance triggers for police and hazard reports, which can make prompts feel delayed or rushed. Voice alerts for hazards or cameras often fail to trigger or sound late unless you have an active navigation route entered. Modern times, split seconds, milliseconds or more: bluetooth audio delay. Wireless connections, Carplay or Android auto, can lag by a second or two before waking up the car speakers.

I pity the young drivers of tomorrow if they lose their techno gadgets. Hand them a map and watch the fun begin.
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.
