Was that age related to the driver or the car?

Driver of course, I always considered I was a good driver, until recently, old age plays tricks with your perceptions.

Finally got around to ordering the paint last Thursday from PeintureVoiture.fr. I've received an email from La Poste saying they have the parcel and it will be delivered 7 Juin. Great service considering a weekend & public holiday in the mix. Thanks all for the recommendations.

Please let us know how you get on with the repair.
I'm hesitating. The sun has made great progress stripping the clear topcoat on OH's car. I tried clear coat aerosols a couple of years ago but it only survived a short time. I assume a proper repair requires a two-pack clear to adhere and survive. My dilemma is what to do about the areas where the original clear survives, and the loose stuff at the edge of the bare water-based rubbish underneath. Is it a case of flatting back all of it and hit the whole panel or strip everything off and prime, basecoat, topcoat? I can certainly do it but that's gonna be expensive.

I could buy a replacement car for less than the cost of a "professional" respray.

Does it matter?
My 21 year old Pug 806 workhorse is in good mechanical nick & has never let me down but as I never wash it I've no idea what the paintwork is like underneath the muck. There's no rust so I'll assume the dirt protects it.
It passes the CT with little or no problems every time & until such time as it's a fail for a dirty car it'll stay that way. :)

Personally I'm not so bothered but the mrs. has always taken good care of her cars and gets upset when they are neglected, or damaged by other people. Luckily I have the skills and tools to do most repairs but I have had no experience with these newfangled paint finishes.

@Hotrodder Will do but it's only to cover the 'small dings' and one scratch that I guess may have been caused by a supermarket trolley

My Golf has a few bodywork dings that I’ve always thought of as perfectly acceptable life scars for a car of its age. However when I was in Spain last week I saw several of the same age and model in pristine condition. I’m now wondering if it deserves a bit more respect.

@DominicBest Why not as it will make you smile. Our mini is just 4 years old so OH is trying to keep it pristine for the moment and probably for years to come if I know him :D As he was so pleased with the delivery he's now asked me to get on the site again and order for his other car and they've now made it easier cos you can now insert your reg and it comes up with the correct colour needed to order - so off I go again :D

Don’t worry the car doesn’t need to be clean and tidy to make me smile, it has made me smile every time I’ve got behind the wheel since buying it new in 2006.
