Moving to France from UK. Sell car in Uk and buy in France or import car?

Quick thought - does the rear foglight have to be on the offside? Does the Skoda have two?

Also, does the headlamp adjust left/right with a slider or will it need new units fitting?

Neither insurmountable issues - just to bear in mind.

The RHD Saxo I mentioned above had headlights dipping to the left through no less than 2 CTs without comment. I eventually change them because I couldn't see the edge of the road at night.

My immediate thoughts would be to do what we did, albeit 21 years ago, and that was to bring the car you know and like with you. It helped that it was a Citroen and, at that time anyway, the transition to French reg was seamless.

Also I am firmly on the 'don't worry about RHD' side of advice, especially if you are not intending to do long journeys and even more so if largely in a rural setting. Even after we bought our 2nd car here, LHD, I did like to jump in the old Saxo and easily use the full width of the road avoiding those barmy oncoming white line crossers, happy in the knowledge that it was safer for me sitting out of the way.

My wife in the head-on 'danger seat', was not so sure.

Than[k you all for the input. Much to ponder. I am in France atm and go home next week and my house then goes on the market. So lots of "bigger" thi gs to think of and deal with but it has been good to start to solve one dilemma.

I am lucky in that my son has lived inFrance for 15 years, is fluent in French and has already started to get various things moving for me.

Much now depends on when my UK house sells.
