Takata airbags, again

Mme bought her car new from a dealer in Quimper but gets it serviced at a Citroen agent a lot closer to home who has the car's details logged.
Plenty of info available about the problem. So the DIY motorist has no reason not to know about it.
I'm sure you've been on line checking on your 'new' car.

Not really. Mine's a Peugeot and the only info I get is from this and one other expat site. And it may or may not have its details listed anywhere this side of the Channel. RHD I can't afford LHD cars.
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

The internet knows no bounderies.
I've just had a quick look & it seems that your car isn't affected but you can maybe check this using :

Thanks for trying but I can't get into the site. I fill in the VIN number and the next box is something to do with a Capcha code that appears to the right. The "next" button is greyed out. Not worried and don't have the time to waste playing a game with internet security rubbish.

I imported my second hand 2005 Toyota Rav4 from the UK, but about 5 years ago, I had a recall letter directly from Toyota france, which was all very well, but everytime I tried to book it into a dealer, the response was, we cannot get hold of the replacement at the moment, we will call you when we have any but nobody called, he third reminder came registered post, this time the main dealer in Beziers had the part.

I am a member of a uk Rav 4 forum, they were all complaining at that time, that due to the demand, dealers were having problems getting the replacement part.

I see that peugeot (the group)are recalling 750000 diesel cars from ,I think 2017 to 2023 for faulty cam chains.

Here was me thinking cam belts were better than chains, maybe not better but cheaper for the manufacturers and suggesting replacement at intervals so they make more money later on. In pre-historic days a chain was the norme and I never even heard of one needing replacement or failing with catastrophic damage to the engine. Progress

Cam belts, cheaper, less noise and monsieur le garagiste is happy to welcome the happy owners for a regular check. Risk of an engine blowup. Metal distrinution chains are more expensive, last much, much longer. Only 1, 2 or 3 dB extra noise ? Frankly, I can live with that in exchange for slightly more carefree motoring and less maintenance costs.

You make it sound quite innocuous only 3dB increase.

But the decibel scale is logarithmic, which means that 3dB increase is as near as damn it twice as noisy.

Three dB is also the smallest change we can hear, not twice as loud for the human ear.
