My next car will definitely be electric, clean, easy to use and quick.

Then be prepared not to use the heaters or the ac or the lights and dont go anywhere on heavily used roads. They havent got out of the cot yet, maybe in five to 10 years unless hydrogen gets there first.

Yes keep Betsy. Better the devil you know, it's cheaper and easier to handle.

Our car is 28 years old and just got it's new CT. it's on 280,000 Kms. Yes it costs a little now and then to repair, but we love the car and it owes us nothing.

If you have 10,000 to waste on a car you would be better off keeping what you have and keep it running, as that 10 grand car could have the same problems as Betsy.

Thanks for the responses and thank you Sunflower for pointing us in the right direction with some wise words and your own experience - Perhaps Betsy will remain in the family for a few more years yet - Madame OBR is very fond of her :D

Really? That’s not the impression I’ve got and believe me I’ve taken @ real interest for quite a while now. Time to get your head out of the sand. I suppose, I would have known we would have been poles apart.

I have a diesel car which is very quick and as it's automatic it's easy to use.
According to the manufacturer its clean as well :P
Cars in France are over priced, I bought a RHD model which has blind spots but was less than half the price of buying the same model in France.

From what we've heard from people who have bought electric cars, the main difficulty can be recharging when away from home. Some towns apparently only let locals use the chargers - Le Havre is one example. The range of charge is less than a petrol or diesel car so you have to plan your journey around charging points. I gather there are maps available which show them - perhaps up to date GPS also shows them ? This could limit making decisions on the spur of the moment ...
