If I am on the inside lane and someone is trying to join the autoroute from the right I try to move left to make a space for them. Sometimes when it’s busy there is no room to move over in which case I think it safer to stay in the inside lane and maintain speed. Slowing down could be dangerous. My feeling is it is up to the car that is joining to adjust their speed to the vehicles in the inside lane and join when it is safe. Is there any « priorité à droit » for thé joining vehicle ?

The short answer to that, Rabbit, is No.
Joining vehicles must give way to those already using the autoroute. Moving to another lane to allow another vehicle onto the autoroute is ideal but only if it's safe for the vehicle on the inside lane to do so.
Do not hesitate to use your horn to warn someone trying to pull out of your presence !

Agree with above - what is worse are those who go to the end of the slip road then stop!

It maybe the case on a very busy stretch that there is no alternative. Eg the périphérique around Paris where the slip roads are short and the traffic is congested.OK you could crawl very slowly but eventually you could run out of road. Surely better than forcing a way on which as the regs say is an offence

But if you're accelerating down the slip road in preparation to joining the traffic on the autoroute but find it is solid & nobody moves over or gives way, what choice do you have?

It can be the same round Rennes. If traffic in the slip lane is virtually stopped cars in the inside lane will give way sometimes!

IIRC the preriferique is not a motorway and PaD does apply

It will probably be at least 20 years since I was on the peri but then it was definitely PaD.

Things may have changed of course.
