CT "Pollu" check

CT due on the 12th Sep..pollution check.

My wife's car, a 13 year old Clio 3, 1.5dci, ex commercial vehicle (high km).

Had it since 2015. Failed one "pollu" check four years ago. My remedy was to take it for a high rev blast for a few days....it passed the retest.

As I often work away from home, my wife is concerned her mode of transport might fail the CT. She is not comfortable with "revving the nuts off it near the red line" style of driving to blow the shit out!

She is convinced that the "engine clean" service offered by the likes of "Roady" etc for diesel cars, will help the old Clio sail through the CT.

Not sure of the price for said treatment (but would expect a guarantee of a pass!).

I always prefer the " blast down the autoroute....3rd gear, 5 000 rvs" option.

Yes, I will be changing the air filter etc before the test.

Any info on the "engine clean " option would be helpful, re; cost, etc (yes, I know....get a new car!)

Regards,

OTBC

I put a bottle of cleaner in the tank a couple of weeks before the CT, and then drive it like an Italian until the day of the test. Worked a treat after my 20 year old car failed last time.

Thanks for that. I actually do the same, then promise to use the additive all the time......after a CT pass.....that promise seems to disappear into thin air!

Diesel is still too expensive to drive like an Italian all the time but I do use the injector cleaner with every tank. A little heavy right foot on the way to the C.T. works for me on both our 21-year old cars.

Back to "normal" driving for the next 50 weeks.....it passed.

Just got to re-install the rear seat now!
