Probably not allowed just now but if it was if you do not use soap or whatever fancy word you want to use it does not go streaky.
I was watching brits in the sun and this guy was washing cars with just water.
It works, I tried it before the hose pipe ban 8-)

At my age I don't.
I pay €5 for a wash and dry at the local car wash.

The supermarket hand car washes in Qatar, where it gets a bit warm, just use a bucket of water both to wash and rinse. Not always streak-free given the frugal use of water to rinse, but not too bad.

Good to know but a bit far to go for a car wash. 8-)

You'll be fine - just remember to go right when you get to Kuwait - not left.

Plain water won't shift tree sap or the buildup of oily smuts from following lorries, etc. But not a problem 'cause I haven't had a car worth washing since I came to France. And there is a fair bit of rain here in Brittany that serves the purpose.

I think I've washed my current (silver) car 3 times since 2010.

Likewise, 4€ for our runabout at our local supermarket carwash - what's not to like.
However, I do have to hand wash our MGB roadster on the very odd occasion it gets a bit dirty, and even that I find a bit of a chore. Better than driving home in the equivalent of a hip bath though.

I took my VdC out of the barn where it’s been sitting for a couple of months this morning. It had been covered by a dust sheet but the four wings were dusty and one had a fair bit of bat poo on it. I simply rinsed the black paintwork with cold well water and despite the heat it looked OK afterwards. It would take a respray to make it look good. 😃 Using the tap water here would have left blotches as it dried.
