I filled the car up
This morning when shopping I filled the car up with diesel. Having nothing much to do whilst holding the trigger, I glanced at the cost per litre. 1.419€!!!!!!!! That was at an Intermarche fuel station.
I think that's the highest price we've known in France. It wouldn't have made any difference if I'd known before filling up - we still need to be able to drive about.
What are you paying at the moment?

€1.69 yesterday - on the Autoroute. Sadly my current car has a small tank and needs two stops - although I guess the flip side is that it did not take that much at that price!

1.36€ for diesel on our last fill up which we do once a month, unless going back to uk.
We usually can get there and back this side to fill up to get home.

It doesn't help that Macron's trying to discourage people buying diesel cars by putting the tax up on diesel to bring the price closer to petrol. One of the reasons the Gilets jaunes started was because the increase was making it much more expensive to get to and fro work.

1,41€ in NE Dordogne at the supermarkets. Just as well we don't travel much these days!

Char, I think that putting up the price of diesel was started quite a while before Macron came to power.

Hi Coldonat,
I thought he'd hiked the tax on diesel up a lot a couple of years ago - but you could be right, I've been to sleep since then.

To be honest I don't look at the price, you could waste more fuel driving about to save a bit of money, it may have cost less in the first place. Its something none of us has control of, so if we cannot do anything about it, then why worry about it, better driving would save a lot of fuel, as the standard of driving is poor. If I had to fill mine up form empty it would cost over 100€
but I only get 32mpg, and that's driven steady.

Yes you have to get it and bite the bullet otherwise splash out on an electric scooter, some drivers are obsessed by it I remember in my youth, yes they did have cars then, several people diligently writing down the mileage and how much they had tanked up with in a little book they kept in the car. Just as an aside it does gripe me when stopping at traffic lights etc. the amount of modern cars that do not have a handbrake??
