Does anyone know how to change the address on a carte grise by post.
I have spent an hour going round and round in circles on the ANTS site and getting nowhere.
Setting up an account failed on several times because I apparently failed a Captcha test even though none was set.
I eventually got through that hurdle.
I put in all the details to change the address, only to be told that I do not have a Carte Grise registered in my name and the application has been cancelled.
I now don't know where to go next

Sorry I dont know how to contact them by post, but quite a lot of garages provide a service to do registrations changes etc on carte grise, i think the last time our local Renault garage charged me 35€ for a change of owner, its a little bit expensive, but saves a lot of hassle, good luck.

There is a group on Facebook which deals in this, Vehicle registrations and law in France, or Registering Vehicles in France. The admin woman is supposed to be a bit of a cow but you will probably get an answer on there.

Having just (after 15 months) been told I have my French permis de conduire I would say that ANTS is the worst website I have ever used, Not just in France but worldwide. It's crap!

@ Exile, something wrong in the spelling of your surmame? Somewhere in "the system" or on your carte grise? So every now and then this happens with "strange" names of foreigners: result is a sound-alike. Not easy to change,
this procedure might be something to have a look at. To prevent overheating of your brain contacting a local French garagist as already suggested is probably much easier.

I have imported several vehicles from uk over the years, I always went to the préfecture to do it, until that stopped.
The last one, our rav4 the local garage did for me, my fault I didn't check the Cart grise when it arrived. It had an error, the VIN was wrong, the VIN had the same number as the field above. I didn't find out until nearly two years later, when it went in for its CT, not only did I have to pay to get it sorted, because the VIN was wrong the CT center couldn't do a revisit, it had to be a full test from scratch so a second cost there.

Similar mistakes happen in other countries and on manual systems too.
I bought a German registered camper van in Spain, which was imported by the garage which sold it.
A year later I received two demands for road tax, with two slightly different reg numbers - 0ne was "IB 2447", the other "IB 2477"
My gestor advised paying both, which I did, and commenced sorting it out, which took almost another year.
I imported it into France, pre - ANTS, with no problems, and now have a CT every 2 years instead of a 6-monthly inspection in Spain, which resulted from its being classed as a commercial vehicle there.
