Finally after about 2 years of failed applications have I received, this morning, the final stage authorisation to send OH's original paper licence back to Nantes for an exchange. Supposedly this is the final step and it should be here within a couple of weeks.

Crikey! What a marathon! I'd heard it was bad these days, but that's crazy bad.
I guess there'll be celebrations when it finally arrives in the letter box?!

Still no licence received, they said it would be here within 15 days, so hopefully pretty soon, just as a matter of interest has anyone else used that "applying for a French driving lience" facebook group run by a Kim Cranstoun.

I exchanged my driving licence about 6 years ago, before it could be done on line. I'd tried twice some years before in Angers without success, but no problem in Rennes. OH did his on line and got his about 3 months later.
We changed from fiddly paper licences to the card ones a long time ago which was well worth the expense of renewing every 10 years. It's pence when you consider how much people are prepared to pay for their mobile phones ......

Dont you have to be careful that you can keep your full entitlements ie full bike & "grandads" licence?

It arrived this morning, there was a request when making the final submissions of paperwork that she revoked her heavy licence, their interpretation of that is from 3.5 to 7.5 ton which used to be on a normal car licence issued in the UK. If we did not submit a letter of revocation then a medical certificate was required, being as we don't anticipate wanting to hire a large box van over 3.5 ton then we sent the letter, have not checked mine for motorbike but again my days of that are long gone.

I persuaded OH to take her advice after his original application in 2018 was thrown out for being 'too early'. He got well and truly caught in the crossfire of the ANTS set-up, and subsequent Brexit mess. AFAIK his more recent application is being dealt with now. Certainly not holding my breath though

ETA: Congratulations, Hughnique!

If you do get in a fix with your application then she certainly knows all the answers, and her guides are really useful, I managed to fall foul of her, as I sent a pm to another member and she didn't like it, reckoned it upset the woman, absolute bullshit, luckily OH's application had already progressed to a stage where her participation was not required as I was removed from the group for my "Misdemeanor", very petty as far as I was concerned at the time.
